Occupational Health, Ergonomic Assessments and Company Services

6Some of the services we offer to help support local and national companies are as follows:

Ergonomic Assessments

Ergonomics deals with the relationship between a person and his or her job, identifying any potential risks, implementing improvements and treating work-related disorders. Ergonomics is often associated with the prevention and treatment of disorders such as RSI (repetitive strain injury), which can affect office workers. Although this certainly is a core area, ergonomics isn’t restricted to the office environment. Services range from risk assessments for factory workers to moving and handling training for care workers to vehicle assessments for sales representatives and much more.

Services range from risk assessments for factory workers to moving and handling training for care workers to vehicle assessments for sales.

Our experts in both physiotherapy and ergonomics have experience working with a wide range of organisations, fitting seamlessly into their operations and working alongside departments such as occupational health and personnel when required.

We can provide ad-hoc ergonomics services to both individuals and businesses but are equally adept at running a full time clinic at our clients’ premises. Our on-site clinics are designed to integrate with any existing Occupational Health or Health and Safety teams and can cover part or all of a client’s ergonomics requirements.

5Work Station Assessments

We offer a comprehensive service for the management of risk associated with display screen equipment workstations, incorporating risk assessment, auditing, training and administration.
It is vital that assessments for people suffering from physical problems are carried out by specialists who, along with an excellent working knowledge of ergonomics and the products available to address risk and disability, also have a good understanding of musculoskeletal pathology.

We can provide workstation assessments on an ad hoc basis, endeavouring to offer an appointment to any new referral within a week and returning the report within ten working days. Our admin team ensures that any assessment requests or subsequent queries are dealt with promptly and we are happy to liaise with HR or Occupational Health departments on any aspect of the workstation assessment.

Accident Rehabilitation

The Code of Best Practice on Rehabilitation states that at the beginning of each claim Personal Injury Lawyers and Insurance Companies must consider rehabilitation for each of their clients. In order for this rehabilitation to be as effective as possible for the patient, and cost effective for the insurer, it should be started as soon as the individual is medically fit to proceed with physiotherapy treatment.

Following an accident or injury that was somebody else’s fault you may be entitled to private physiotherapy treatment. If authorised by your solicitor / case manager / insurer we can organise both an initial assessment and your ongoing treatment and can invoice them directly for your treatment leaving you to concentrate on your rehabilitation.

We provide a comprehensive, effective rehabilitation services to enable individuals to return to their activities of normal daily living such as work and sport. We understand that the difficulties experienced after an accident may not all be physical. These other issues can often be addressed during treatment or referred on to other medical professionals.

Back School

Back schools are classes where people are taught about back pain, usually over a few weeks, although we can offer individual lectures. The number of classes and what is learnt can be tailored to each individual orginisation and the participatns of the course. Generally we teach people about how their back works, what can go wrong with their back, the best ways to stand and move to do less damage to their back, and how to safely take part in sport and exercise.

If you have a client with long-term back pain, taking part in a back school could help reduce their pain and help them move around more easily. The theory is that teaching people how their backs work and what causes pain means that they can adapt their lives to reduce their pain and prevent future back problems. For example, people may be taught the best way to get out of bed and lift and carry things. This could mean that they avoid putting pressure on the part of the back that is causing them problems. It may also mean that they use their backs properly in the future.

Medico-Legal Assessments and Reports

We can produce medico-legal reports regarding an individual’s injuries, their rehabilitation potential and detailing advice on levels of physiotherapy treatment required to realise this potential. Following a clients initial assessment with one of our chartered physiotherapists, we can produce, normally within 10 working days, a Medico-legal report which includes:

  • Subjective and objective assessment summary
  • Amount of functional disability with reference to the patient’s activities of daily living, work and leisure.
  • A diagnosis and prognosis of the patient’s condition and whether the patient has rehabilitation potential.
  • Realistic rehabilitation goals and patient’s expectations.
  • Advice regarding appropriate referral to other health professionals.
